This page explains, in plain English, what happens to the information you share on this site. Lead Your Power is Fred Smith’s leadership coaching work. When this page says “we” or “I”, it means Fred and anyone who helps him run the site.

What the contact form collects

When you write to me through the form, I receive what you choose to type in:

  • Your first name and email address (needed so I can reply)
  • Your message
  • Anything optional you add: which thought sounds closest, who’s in it with you, what you lead, and a phone number
  • Whether you agreed to let me keep your note so I can reply

The form also records a few things automatically: the page you sent it from, the page that brought you there, any campaign tags in the link you followed (for example, which ad or post you came from), the date and time, your IP address and your browser type. These help me understand where notes come from and help keep spam out.

Why I collect it

To read what you wrote, reply to you, and, if it feels right to us both, set up a conversation. The campaign details help me see which posts, videos or ads are actually useful to people, so I can make more of what helps and less of what doesn’t. I don’t use your note for anything else.

How it’s stored

Your note is saved in this website’s WordPress database, which runs on our hosting provider’s servers. Access to it is limited to the site’s administrators, with a password-protected login.

Email notifications

When you send the form, the site emails a copy of your note to the site owner’s inbox so it gets read. That copy sits in an ordinary email account, protected by its own login. If you include an email address, my reply comes from that email account.

Analytics and advertising pixels

Right now this site doesn’t run analytics or advertising pixels. If and when they’re added (for example, a tool that counts visits, or an advertising platform’s pixel that tells me whether an ad led to a note), they may collect details such as the pages you view, the device and browser you use, and an identifier stored in a cookie. That information is handled by those providers under their own privacy policies. I’ll update this page before any of them go live, and I’ll say which ones are in use.

Cookies

Today the site only uses the cookies it needs to work, such as the ones WordPress sets when an administrator logs in. If analytics or advertising tools are added later, they may set their own cookies, and this page will be updated to say so. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

How long I keep it

I keep notes from the form for as long as I need them to reply and follow up, and no longer than 24 months after our last contact, unless you ask me to delete them sooner or the law requires me to keep something longer. Email copies are deleted on the same schedule.

Who sees it, and what I never do

I don’t sell your personal information, and I don’t trade or rent it. I don’t add you to a mailing list because you wrote to me. The only outside parties involved are the companies that run the services this site depends on, such as hosting and email, and only so those services can work.

Your choices

You can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. The simplest way is to send a short note through the contact form using the same email address, and say what you’d like. I’ll confirm once it’s done.

Children

This site is for adults who lead companies, practices and teams. It isn’t meant for anyone under 18, and I don’t knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this page

If anything here changes, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
